MIAMI -- Zoo Miami is welcoming six new babies: four lions and two clouded leopards.
Zoo officials announced the births Tuesday.
Officials say two female leopards were born March 13. The kittens have been secluded in a den with their mother, Serai, but zoo staff was able to exam the infants this week. The mother and kittens are doing fine.
On March 6, a lioness named Kashifa gave birth to what zoo officials believe are three males and a female. The cubs have remained in seclusion with their mother. Staff members have not physically examined the cubs, but they're being monitored by closed-circuit video.
The happy news of the births was tempered last week by the death of Kashifa's sister, Asha.
Zoo officials haven't determined when the infants will go on public display.
