Tropical Storm Debby leaves a mess in Live Oak

LIVE OAK, Fla. - The only way in and out of Michelle Lee's home is by boat.

Drenching downpours from Tropical Storm Debby that amounted to more than 20 inches of rain in Live Oak, swamped her house.

"I was up at 5:30 a.m. when water started to come up through the vents," says Lee. "We lost everything, we're saying posters and art."

Ironically, she was riding in her one possession that wasn't submerged in floodwater.

"It was on dry land, the only thing that was, and we'd never used it," says Lee.

Never used it until now. It's what will carry her to a new start.

"It's been stressful but there's a reason for everything. You cry tears and then there is positive right behind it," says Lee.

The rainfall is slowly receding, although Highway 129, which runs through the heart of town,  is still covered by feet of water in places.
