Three people wounded in Belle Glade shooting

BELLE GLADE, Fla. - A shooting in Belle Glade sent three people to the hospital Sunday afternoon.

Two of the victims were flown to the Delray Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue says a third victim was taken to a separate hospital and is also expected to be OK.

The victims were identified as 24-year-old Von Smith, Freddie Smith, 55, and 48-year-old
Eddie Drummer.

The shooter is described as 5 feet 10 inches, 155 pounds and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office says the shooting happened at the loading ramp, an open parking lot where many farm workers meet or fruit vendors sell produce.

"It's always busy, always busy," explained D. Black, a nearby resident.

Black says he never knows when he'll hear gunfire near his home. Sunday, it happened while he was walking home from a nearby grocery store.

"You just run, get out of the way. There's just so much shooting going on and innocent bystanders getting hit," Black said.

Nearby residents say two of the people shot were sitting at a table playing Dominos, when a shooter aiming at a third person also struck the other two people.

"They were in the wrong place. Wrong place, wrong time," Black said.

Black said he knew all three people who were shot Sunday.

"I was talking to the same dude that got shot. I didn't know he was going to get shot like 20 minutes later," Black said.

Officials said the shooting victims are not being cooperative in providing any suspect or motive information.
