Thousands turns out for Memorial Day Ceremony at South Florida National Cemetery

LAKE WORTH, Fla. - Thousands turned out for the Memorial Day ceremony Monday at the South Florida National Cemetery near Lake Worth.

The ceremony honors the more than one million men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Adela Caubillo and Glorida Morales were in attendance to remember their brother Oscar Avila.

"He loved the Army. He loved it very much. This is a sad day, but this is the way it had to be," Caubillo said.

Avila fought in the Vietnam War and died in the VA hospital in 2009.

"He really loved what they did for everyone. He fought for his country. We are very grateful for everyone that fights for our freedom," Morales said.

Organizers said the ceremony grows every year. This year, there was a flyover and numerous bands took part.
