COCOA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Rescue officials say a 10-year-old Ohio boy, who was bitten by a shark in the shallow waters off Cocoa Beach, suffered injuries to his leg and foot.

Orlando Dominguez, spokesman for Brevard County Fire-Rescue, said it's not life-threatening and the boy is stable.

The incident happened Tuesday morning as the boy waded into the surf. He was bitten and then managed to get back to shore on his own. He was taken by ambulance to Cape Canaveral Hospital for treatment.
