ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Authorities in central Florida say a teenager looking to avoid trouble called 911 and said she had been kidnapped.
According to the Orlando Police Department, the girl called 911 and told emergency officials that she had been kidnapped and was in a vehicle on Interstate 4. She updated officials on her location as the vehicle continued to travel down the roadway.
Nine different agencies were involved in the search for the girl and authorities used two helicopters. After the vehicle was stopped in Volusia County, the girl told investigators that she didn't want to get in trouble, so she called 911 and lied about the kidnapping.
According to the release, charges are being filed with the State Attorney Office. The girl's name wasn't released.
