Director Spike Lee apologized to a Florida couple who had to leave their home after he retweeted an erroneous message.
The tweet listed their address as belonging to George Zimmerman.
David and Elaine McClain live four miles from the neighborhood watch leader who says he killed Trayvon Martin in self-defense.
The McClains say they are too scared to stay at home right now after receiving threats and hate mail.
The man who initially sent the message, which Lee retweeted to his 250-thousand followers, has also apologized.
Earlier, the couple had asked for an apology from Lee.
