Small plane crash kills 1, injures 2 in Clearwater, Florida

CLEARWATER, Fla. - Clearwater fire crews are on scene of an early morning fatal plane crash that happened just after 4 a.m. Saturday.

The single engine plane went down in the middle of McMullen Booth Road north of Union Street killing the adult male on board and injuring two girls.

On board were the pilot, his daughter and her friend.

They took off from Chicago around 6:30 p.m Friday.

CNN identifies the deceased pilot as Jeffrey Bronken, 53, was killed. The others on board were Katherine Bronken and Keyana Linbo, both age 15

They were taken to Saint Joseph's hospital in Tampa, one was transported as a trauma alert.

Debris from the crash caused small fires in the roadway which crews extinguished.

According to FAA website the piper plane was registered to a company called Glass Man, Inc. out of Illinois.
