ORMOND BEACH, Fla. - A 45-year-old woman is recovering in the hospital after being bitten by a shark in Ormond Beach.
The woman, who is visiting from the Netherlands, was standing in only two-feet of water when it happened.
Witnesses say something else likely attracted the shark to the shallow waters.
"There was a lot of schooling fish, literally as soon as the comes in they're just going through", said Bill Houston who was visiting from Ocala. "There was a lot of schooling fish. I'd say that probably has a lot to do with them coming closer."
The woman had a six-inch gash on her foot. She needed stitches and is in stable condition.
