BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. - A tractor trailer struck a pedestrian on the Sawgrass Expressway Friday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. This is the second time this week in which a pedestrian was struck by a semi.
The latest incident happened north of Sample Road at 12:40 p.m.
The person hit by the tractor trailer had pulled over in the median after being involved in an accident with another car, troopers said. The other vehicle was pulled over on the right shoulder.
The pedestrian attempted to cross interstate 595 and was struck by the tractor trailer, according to troopers. The pedestrian is in critical condition, according to FHP.
The tractor trailer that fled the scene is described as a white, missing the lower mirror and has right front damage, according to authorities.
The tractor was pulling a white box trailer and continued eastbound on the Sawgrass Expressway.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Florida Highway Patrol at 954-837-4012 or Crime Stoppers.
