REWIND: Delta IV rocket launch from Cape Canaveral Wednesday night

CAPE CANAVERAL - For all you rocket enthusiasts: A Delta IV carrying a military communications satellite lifted off from Space Launch Complex 37 at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station Wednesday night.
The launch happened at 8:29 p.m.

The satellite payload is is part of the Wideband Global SATCOM system.
"The WGS satellites are an important element of a new high-capacity satellite communications system providing enhanced communications capabilities to our troops in the field for the next decade and beyond. WGS enables more robust and flexible execution of Command and Control, Communications, Computers, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4lSR), as well as battle management and combat support information function," according to the United Launch Alliance.
The Australian Defence Force is a partner in the mission and picked up a significant portion of the costs associated with the launch.
This was the 23rd launch of a Delta IV since 2002.
