MIAMI (AP) — PortMiami's $1 billion under-the-bay tunnel is officially open to traffic.
The opening comes a day earlier than anticipated.
The tunnel was dedicated by Gov. Rick Scott on May 19. But the opening has been delayed various repairs.
The opening of the new tunnel marks the end of a more than 30 years of planning and construction on the tunnel that is expected to ease traffic congestion through downtown Miami by diverting port traffic.
