SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) -- A Wal-Mart employee in Sunrise has fatally shot a man who attempted to rob him.
The SunSentinel reports that the incident occurred early Wednesday in the parking out outside the store located at University Drive and Oakland Park Boulevard.
The employee, who went to his car, was approached by an unidentified man armed with a handgun.
Following an exchange of words between the two, the employee pulled out a weapon a fired multiple shots, killing the suspect.
Sunrise Police Department spokesman Chris Piper says the employee shot the man in self-defense. He says the employee has a permit to carry a concealed weapon.
The incident remains under investigation.
