MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. -
Pierre Ludovic Duclos Lanier, 27, appeared before a judge via video at the Manatee County Jail on Friday.
Duclos is charged with attempting to have sex with a 13-year-old girl.
He told the judge about his living arrangements and said he had spent some time at the prestigious IMG Tennis Academy, in Bradenton.
Duclos said, "I was there maybe three weeks at a time and then I was gone two weeks. Three weeks traveling and come back. Stay a week... travel for four weeks. So, I've been based there about two years for now."
Investigators say last week, he started texting a 13 year-old girl he met at a Bradenton tennis court. Deputies say he sent her an inappropriate photo of himself. Authorities used the alleged victim's phone to contact Duclos again. They say he sent more pics and arranged to have sex with the child. That's when he was arrested.
Bonnie Bavier plays tennis for a hobby. She also taught kindergarten, first and second grades. Bavier said, "Those type people are supposed to be people the children and the rest of us look up to for the experience and the talent that they have."
The judge ordered Duclos to have no contact with the alleged victim or any person under age 16. He also can't leave Florida and has to give up his passport. Duclos is in the Manatee County Jail on $33,000 bond.
The IMG Tennis Academy told Tampa's ABC action News, Duclos has no affiliation with the group. He only used their courts for practice and he's no longer allowed at the facility.
