BELLE GLADE, Fla. - Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office deputies and congregation members continued the search Monday for missing pastor Paul Metellus.
"We were just shocked so we had to come and see what we could find out," Dr. David Nixon with the Church of the Nazarene's state office said.
Nixon, along with investigators, searched a sugar cane field Monday.
According to Metellus's son, his father didn't show up to church on Sunday morning and when he called him all he would say is that he was in a sugar cane field.
Investigators located his car near the field.
"Everyone is scared. All we can do is go to church and praise God," congregation member Oxane Dlna said.
The sheriff's office used its helicopter and dogs to continue the search Monday.
According to an office spokesman, they are concerned but don't have a reason to suspect foul play.
"My dad does not have a history of mental illness, but when I heard him on the phone he was acting crazy," Harly Metellus said.
Church members say they will continue to search until their pastor turns up.
"We will just wait and see. A lot of people are praying. We've mobilized people to pray that we at least find him," Dr. Nixon said.
If you see the missing pastor or have any information, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS.
