A new Zika transmission zone has been confirmed in Miami-Dade, Florida Gov. Rick Scott announced Thursday.

The new zone runs from Northwest 79th Street south to Northwest 63rd Street and from Northwest 10th Avenue east to N. Miami Avenue.

The state said this about the new zone:

This is about one square mile. The (Health) department has identified five people, two women and three men, in the new area. Three live in this one square mile area. The other two either work or have visited this area. Four of these cases have already been announced and were under the normal investigation process.

There are five new travel-related cases. One in Hillsborough, one in Orange, one in Pinellas and two involving pregnant women, the Health Department said.

There are two new non-travel related cases. The Health Department said one case is linked to the new area of local transmission in Miami-Dade. The other case is a Broward County resident. The department  said it is investigating to determine where exposure occurred.
