Michael Stephen Spiegel: Suspect charged with murder after deaths at Fort Myers Beach marina

FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Authorities have charged a man with murder after two deaths at a southwest Florida marina.

Two people were found dead and one person was hospitalized after deputies arrived Thursday morning at Salty Sam's Marina in Fort Myers Beach.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office said Friday that Michael Stephen Spiegel of Fort Myers was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of arson in the deaths of Marilyn Spiegel and Harry Carlip. Details about Spiegel's relationship to the victims have not been released.

Spiegel was held without bond. Jail records did not show whether he had an attorney.

Deputies had been called to the scene after a resident living on a boat heard shots and called 911. Authorities said the disturbance included a small fire on a boat.
