Miami Heat ticket sale ends with SWAT standoff

— Miami Heat madness ended with a SWAT team standoff after a North Naples man hit his wife with a shotgun and fired a bullet through the bathroom door, Collier County deputies said.

Bradley Wasserman, 55, of the 9600 block of Wilshire Lakes Boulevard, was arrested Wednesday by Collier deputies at home.

Wasserman's wife told deputies the situation started when her husband bought Miami Heat tickets, promising to take his stepchildren, but sold one to a neighbor's son for $2,500. She said she became upset because she thought he would gamble with the money.

Wasserman got angry over the accusation, grabbed a shotgun and hit his wife in the face with the butt of the gun, according to the arrest report.

Wasserman's wife told deputies that he threatened to kill her when he advised the daughter to call 911. The wife fled with her youngest daughter. Wasserman's wife notified deputies that her husband was inside her home with a shotgun, threatening to shoot himself, and that two of her children were locked inside a bathroom. The SWAT team and a hostage negotiator were called in.

Deputies were able to get the children safely out of the house while Wasserman talked to deputies on the back lanai of the home. Earlier Wasserman walked out of the home with a shotgun in hand and told deputies he was not going to put his gun down and went back inside his home.

A shot was heard from inside the home but deputies were able to coax Wasserman from the home, according to reports.

Deputies said Wasserman shot a hole through one of his bathroom doors.

Wasserman faces charges of aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and improper exhibit of firearm.
