Stay of execution issued for former escort service
STARKE, Fla. (AP) -- A former escort service owner convicted in the slayings of two Florida women has been granted a temporary stay of execution.
Marshall Lee Gore was scheduled to die by lethal injection at the Florida State Prison Monday at 6 p.m.
The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals approved a motion filed by Gore's attorney less than two hours before the procedure was expected to begin.
Gore was sentenced to death for the 1988 killing of Robyn Novick, a 30-year-old exotic dancer whose body was found in Miami-Dade County. Gore was also convicted in the slaying of Susan Roark, whose body was found in Columbia County.
