PORT ST. LUCIE - A manhunt is underway for the man who shot a 7-year-old child and 70-year-old man in their Port St. Lucie home.
According to Sergeant Frank Sabol of the Port St. Lucie Police Department, the suspect Brandon Lamar Hawkins was at 213 SW Kentwood Road arguing with his girlfriend when he shot the woman’s 70-year-old stepfather.
As the girlfriend tried to escape to a neighbor’s house with her young son, Hawkins shot the 7-year-old boy as they ran.
The boy was airlifted to St. Mary’s Trauma Center and the stepfather was taken to a local Port St. Lucie hospital for treatment.
Both victims are said to be in critical condition.
Hawkins then took off a black pickup truck, which police found abandoned at a local gas station parking lot located in the 300 block of SW Tulip Boulevard.
According to police, Brandon Lamar Hawkins is a24-year-old black male, 5’10” tall, with a medium build.
Hawkins should be considered armed and dangerous.
