POMPANO BEACH, Fla. - Love is in the water in South Florida.
A manatee mating herd came ashore on Pompano Beach Monday afternoon, WSVN reports. The sea cows put on a quite a show for beach-goers.
During breeding, a single female is usually followed by a group of a dozen or more males, according to
Save the Manatee Club.
FWC reminds the public to always watch manatees from a distance and avoid personal contact with them.
And if you ever need to report a manatee in distress-- or some other problem-- call the FWC's Wildlife Alert Hotline at 1-888-404-FWCC.
