Hungry for lionfish?

All 26 Whole Foods stores across Florida just made it a little easier for shoppers to purchase the much-publicized invasive species.

The store said the cost is $9.99 per pound with an introductory price of $8.99 per pound from May 25 to May 31.

"With hopes of creating a demand for fishermen to scale their operations and catch more lionfish, Whole Foods Market hopes to move the seafood industry toward greater sustainability, creating healthier ecosystems and reversing trends in overfishing and bycatch," the company said in a news release Tuesday.

Workers at Whole Foods will remove the venomous spines of the fish before making them available for purchase.

Whole Foods has area locations in West Palm Beach, Wellington, Palm Beach Gardens and Boca Raton.
