Large-scale growhouse shuttered in western St. Lucie County

2nd growhouse shut Wedbesday in St. Lucie County

ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. - Detectives from the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office Special Investigations Unit, Port St. Lucie Police Department and the federal Drug Enforcement Administration have shut down an extensive marijuana grow operation in the 15000 block of Navion Drive in the community of Treasure Coast Air Park.

Treasure Coast Air Park is west of Port St. Lucie.

Sheriff Ken Mascara said he believes the grow operation at this residence is part of a larger scale operation that extends throughout South Florida.

This growhouse discovery is different from the growhouse in Port St. Lucie dismantled early this morning. There is no connection between the two growhouses, said Master Sgt. Frank Sabol, Port St. Lucie Police Department spokesman.

Investigators seized 184 marijuana plants, 20 pounds of marijuana packaged for distribution and $900 in cash, sheriff's officials said.

The resident, Murray Chinners, was arrested and booked in to the St. Lucie County Jail on numerous drug charges, officials said.
