Krastina Yankova Gesheva: Mom arrested after leaving son in car while she drank, police say

(WFLA/NBC NEWSCHANNEL) A St. Petersburg woman is charged with DUI and child neglect after police say she left her 8-year-old son in her car while she drank at a bar for four hours.

Officers responded to the Tryst Lounge at about 3:00 a.m. Monday on a disturbance call.

When officers arrived, several people were standing outside pointing to a woman, later identified as Krastina Yankova Gesheva, 36. They also discovered Gesheva's 8-year-old son in her car.

Police say Gesheva had twice the legal limit of alcohol in her blood when she tried to leave in her 2010 silver Mercedes. Witnesses told the officers that she struck two parked cars as she was backing out.

She appeared in front of Pinellas County Judge Dorothy Vaccaro Monday afternoon but had to speak through a Bulgarian interpreter when she had trouble understanding the judge.
The judge set bond at $2,750 after Gesheva insisted she could post that amount and hire her own attorney.
