FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Jury selection starts June 26 for the trial of Wayne Treacy, the teen accused of attempted murder following a contentious text message exchange.
Treacy was charged as an adult with first-degree attempted murder after teenager Josie Lou Ratley was beaten two years ago.
Investigators say Treacy, who was 15 at the time, confronted Ratley after the two exchanged text messages. A message sent from Ratley's phone said Treacy should "go visit" his dead brother, who had committed suicide.
Treacy is accused of stomping her head with steel-toed boots, giving her a severe head injury.
It is possible Treacy's attorney will suggest his client was temporarily insane.
