Judge orders South Florida man to prison after 2 juries acquit him

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) -- A South Florida judge sentenced a man to 15 years in prison even though two separate juries acquitted him on charges of fondling pre-teen girls.

The South Florida Sun Sentinel ( http://sunsent.nl/ACshSJ ) reports 40-year-old Corey Hipscher spent more than an hour Thursday trying to convince Broward Circuit Judge Martin Bidwill that he'd already been found not guilty.

Bidwill pointed out that Hipscher committed a new crime while on probation. He ordered the stiffest sentence he could.

Hipscher's lawyers say they will appeal.

Hipscher was accused of fondling a 10-year-old girl at Quiet Waters Park in 2009. Once the allegations became public, records show two more girls - ages 7 and 8 - came forward with claims he did the same thing to them while they were visiting from the Dominican Republic.
