VERO BEACH, Fla. - Indian River County Sheriff's deputies arrested a 25-year-old man on charges of lewd and lascivious battery on a 13 and 15-year-old after deputies say he set up a fake Facebook account to meet teen girls.
According to investigators, earlier this month a 14-year-old girl was questioned by her youth group advisor after that advisor had heard her in the youth group talking about an adult male she had met on Facebook.
The youth advisor contacted the sheriff's office and deputies began investigating.
Deputies said that they determined that Jay Frederick Nagel of Vero Beach had set up a Facebook profile using the name Jonathan Langley and that many of the friends listed in his contacts appeared to be middle and high school aged girls.
Through the investigation, deputies determined that Nagel engaged in sexual activity with a 13-year-old girl he met online. Deputies say he also committed lewd and lascivious battery on a 15-year-old girl he met on Facebook as well.
Each of these counts is a second degree felony, punishable by up to 15 years in prison for each charge.
Deputies are asking anyone with information about other potential victims to contact Detective Jeremy Shepherd at 772-978-6120.
Nagel is being held in the Indian River County Jail on $150,000 bond.
