Jakeilah Weeks, on the run from police, drives car into Sarasota house, kills resident Eleanor Ball

SARASOTA, Fla. - A woman is in police custody and another dead after a deadly car crash into a home, Sarasota police say.

Around 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning police were called out to a domestic situation in the 1700 block of 29th Street.

Upon arrival they were told a man's ex-girlfriend had attempted to break into his home, but soon fled.

The woman, Jakeilah Weeks, 24, had reportedly jumped into a car and drove down Maple Avenue.

Officers on foot attempted to run after the vehicle, until they saw her drive into a house on 32nd Street.

62-year-old Eleanor Ball was asleep inside her home when Weeks drove into her bedroom, killing her.

Weeks was taken into custody and taken to a local hospital for medical attention.

She faces charges of vehicular homicide, burglary, battery, petit theft and obstruction.

According to family of the deceased this is not the first time the house has been hit by a car.
