Gov. Rick Scott denies going back on campaign promise of 700,000 new jobs in seven years

TALLAHASSEE (AP) - Questions about whether Gov. Rick Scott has flip-flopped on his job-creation promise are continuing to dog him.

It happened again Wednesday at a ceremony opening the Department of Economic Opportunity, designed to lead Scott's job-growth effort by attracting businesses.

Afterward, though, Scott was asked about the "Full Flop" he just got from, a fact-checking website created by The St. Petersburg Times.

Scott again denied he's gone back on his campaign promise of 700,000 new jobs in seven years.

Last year he said that goal was "on top of what normal growth would be." Now, he says it's not.

State economists last year predicted 1 million new jobs in the same span no matter what the state did. That's 300,000 more than Scott now says he promised.
