A fake headline pasted on an old edition of the Miami Herald ended up bringing the wrong kind of attention to Florida Gov. Rick Scott after his camp got busted for the stunt Tuesday, according to a Huffington Post report.
The management company for Scott's Facebook page posted an altered Miami Herald front page image from 2007 that originally read, "Murders highlight rise in crime in Guatemala" to "New law helps put Floridians back to work".
The managing editor of Miami Herald, Rick Hirsch, got wind of the incident, contacted the Republican Party of Florida and told them to take it down.
The image was removed shortly after.
"The posting of a fraudulent front page of The Miami Herald is unacceptable,'' Hirsch said.
