ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a piece of glass art by artist Dale Chihuly worth as much as $25,000 is missing from a Tampa Bay area gallery.

Police say staff at the Chihuly Gallery in downtown St. Petersburg noticed the piece was missing Monday morning.

Staff members think it was stolen sometime Sunday when the gallery was open to the public.

The piece is called "Cobalt and Lavender Piccolo Venetian with Gilded Handles."

Detectives are reviewing surveillance video in hopes of identifying the suspect.

Chihuly, a native of Washington state, is known for his colorful, other-worldly glass creations.

In January 2015, four people were charged with stealing blown-glass pieces by Chihuly that were on display at the Denver Botanic Gardens.
