Florida lawmakers to discuss the future of red light cameras

On Monday, Florida lawmakers are expected to discuss whether local governments should be allowed to install additional red light cameras throughout the state.

Lawmakers said city and municipality officials are using the devices to raise money instead of improving traffic safety.

Lawmakers said the cameras hauled in more than $118 million dollars statewide in revenue during 2012-2013 fiscal year, with city and county governments keeping $56 million dollars of the money.
