Emergency call boxes along the interstate are being removed in Florida.
"The call boxes really make a difference sometimes," said Michael Tebo, a Southwest Florida driver.
This state-wide removal is bringing concern.
"I know a lot of people have cell phones but there are the occasional person who doesn't," said Tebo.
"It's inadequate technology quite frankly," said Florida Department of Transportation spokesperson Debbie Tower.
Instead drivers are picking up their cells in emergency cases.
"It was a good business decision really to remove call boxes and move forward," said Tower.
Tower said these phones had to go in a cost cutting move.
NBC2 reports all call boxes in the state will be removed by January 31, 2014.
