TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Florida Gov. Rick Scott is heading to the Dominican Republic early next year for another trade mission.
Enterprise Florida, the state's economic development organization, announced the trip on Monday. The trade mission will be held in late February.
Scott is scheduled to visit Japan on a trade mission next month.
The trip to Japan will be Scott's 10th trade-related trip abroad. The visit to the Dominican Republic will be his 11th such trip.
The governor has taken more trips abroad than former Gov. Charlie Crist. Some of the countries he has visited include France, England, Israel, Brazil, Spain, Chile and Colombia.
Scott defends the trips as a way to open doors for Florida-based companies seeking business abroad.
Enterprise Florida says the Dominican Republic is Florida's ninth-largest trading partner.
