Jan Ignash selected by Florida Board of Governors as interim chancellor of state university system

Ignash is currently vice chancellor

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- A top Florida official in the state's university system is going to serve as interim chancellor.

The Florida Board of Governors, meeting in Sarasota, selected Jan Ignash to oversee the university system starting on Oct. 1. Frank Brogan, the current chancellor, is leaving at the end of the month to take a similar job in Pennsylvania.

Ignash currently serves as vice chancellor and chief academic officer for the system that includes the state's 12 public universities. She has been on the job for about 18 months.

Ignash currently makes $158,650 a year. She will get a temporary pay raise while she serves as interim chancellor but the amount has not been determined yet.

A search committee to find a permanent replacement for Brogan will be appointed later in the month.
