Firefighter handling motorcycle accident bitten by monkey hidden under wheel

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Firefighters train to handle smoke, flames and injuries. Not aggressive monkeys.

A Fort Lauderdale battalion chief handling a motorcycle accident on West Broward Boulevard reached over to turn off the motorcycle when a marmoset monkey jumped out from under a wheel and bit him on the finger.

The monkey had been riding in a bag attached to the motorcycle. Battalion Chief Stewart Ahearn received a tetanus shot. The monkey received 10 days in quarantine. Both are fine.

The owner was issued a warning for failing to label the monkey bag with what was in it.
