Chelsea Richard, John Duggan: FHP trooper, tow truck driver killed in I-75 wreck

A Florida Highway Patrol trooper was killed in the line of duty Saturday afternoon in Ocala.

Trooper Chelsea Richard arrived on scene of a two-vehicle crash shorty after 1:30 p.m..  At the time, both cars involved in the crash were off to the side of the road.

The FHP said Richard was speaking to a  tow truck driver who was called to assist in removing the damaged vehicles on the shoulder of the road.

Another multi-car wreck then occurred in the southbound lanes in the same areas as the original wreck.

The second crash sent a truck across the southbound lanes and into the shoulder where it struck the Richard and the tow truck driver.

Both were killed on scene.

A third person was taken from the scene in critical condition and later died.
