FHP cracking down on aggressive drivers

Motorists may want to practice patience on the state's roadways in coming weeks. The Florida Highway Patrol will be targeting aggressive truck and car drivers.

According to FHP statistics, 88 percent of crashes can be blamed on drivers' behavior. Only 12 percent are the result of vehicle defects, road conditions or bad weather, the FHP said.

From Feb. 27-29, troopers will be ticketing drivers who follow too closely, make unsafe lane changes or speed. Ticketing will be combined with community outreach, education and evaluation to raise awareness about safe driving practices.
