Authorities are searching for a trio of armed thieves who were caught on camera robbing a Pompano Beach family.

The armed home invasion happened the night of Feb. 1 at the home at 100 Southeast 10th Ave., Broward Sheriff's Office officials said Monday.

The family of three were in the home when the son heard a knock at the door, didn't see anyone through the peephole and opened the door. A surveillance camera captured one of the suspects covering the peephole with his hand.

The three suspects barged into the home and held the family at gunpoint while they combed the house looking for a safe drugs and guns, despite the family telling them none were in the home.

"[They were] pretty forceful. They put the gun on my back and pushed me to the ground," victim Chris Mills said. "When my mom started saying something they hit her in the head with it."

Authorities said the suspects fled with cash, an Xbox 360 and a cellphone. The victims believe the thieves were looking for the previous tenants of the home.

"They came in and they were like 'where's the guns, where's the guns, where's the stuff?'" Mills said. "And I kept telling them I was like 'man, the safe is unlocked, it's open, go look for yourself, there's nothing there, we just moved in.'"
Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
