A 61-year-old woman was arrested after deputies say she slapped a man in the face in the parking lot of a Publix grocery store.
It happened at the Publix in Bonita Springs off US-41 near Old 41.
Ashlee Whiteleather watched it all happen from a salon window next door.
"She's pointing her finger and irate," said Whiteleather.
According to the report, Eileen Nemeroff was in the car with her husband when they pulled up behind a man in a white truck.
The victim, Steve Jones, says he was waiting for traffic to clear before he turned out of the parking lot.
Then Jones heard Nemeroff lay on the horn.
At that point, Jones says he got out of his own truck and approached the vehicle behind him, but they wouldn't roll down their windows.
So Jones walked back to his truck.
"…And then her husband said something to her and she flew out of the car," said Whiteleather.
Nemeroff walked up to Jones' driver's side door, so he rolled down the window.
Then, something unexpected happened.
"She reaches her hand inside the truck and slaps him in the face!" Whiteleather said.
Witnesses say the victim calmly got out of his truck, took a picture of the license plate and called 911. Nemeroff then jumped a curb and sped off.
"It's amazing what road rage does to you. But all he was trying to do was wait for the traffic to go by and she was not having it," said Whiteleather.
We stopped by Nemeroff's home but no one answered. She was arrested for burglary with assault.
Neighbors say they had no idea she had a temper.
"I would have never expected out of her, because she's very quiet, down to earth. They're really good people," said neighbor Fred Maturski.
We spoke to Steve Jones over the phone. He laughed it off and said it was something he will never forget.
