Drowning bull gets life-saving boost from Hillsborough County Deputy Christina Ammons

PALM RIVER, Fla. - A bull on the verge of drowning got a life-saving boost from a Hillsborough County deputy Friday morning.

Deputy Christina Ammons found the exhausted bull in a pond, stuck in the mud and its head sinking into the water.

She jumped in and held its head up.

Hillsborough Fire Rescue arrived on scene a short time later with a winch and pulled it onshore.

The bull, according to a sheriff's spokesman, is 20-years-old.

Photos of the rescue lit up social media sites.

Many were worried that the bull might be slaughtered and an effort is underway to keep that from happening.
