FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Former Miami Dolphins' receiver Davone Bess has been arrested at the Ft. Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport by airport police.
Airport police say that around 6:15 Friday morning passengers notified security that Bess was acting irrationally, dancing and singing with his pants repeatedly falling down.
The officer who went to check on Bess says that Bess grabbed someone else's coffee and squeezed it causing it to go all over his uniform.
Bess, according to police, then took a fighting stance in front of the officer and removed his shirt.
Backup officers then arrived and Bess was taken into custody and placed in the Broward County Jail.
Bess has been charged with simple assault on an officer, disorderly conduct and resisting an officer without violence.
The Miami Dolphins traded Bess to the Cleveland Browns at the end of the 2012 season.
The arrest comes one day after Bess posted a photo on his Twitter page of a small package containing what appears to be marijuana. The photo was later deleted.
A Browns spokesman said the team was aware of the arrest of the 28-year-old Bess. The Browns signed Bess last year to a three-year, $11.5 million contract. This season Bess had career lows with 42 catches for 362 yards.
