MIAMI (AP) - A South Florida specialty sneaker store had to postpone the launch of a limited-edition Air Jordan shoe at a nightclub after a crowd showed up and got unruly, resulting in the injury of a police officer.
The retailer SoleFly tweeted Saturday that it was canceling the launch of the limited-edition SoleFly Air Jordan 1 due to safety concerns.
The tweet said that police in Miami had deemed it unsafe to release the shoe at the planned location.
WPLG in Miami reports that a police officer was hurt after the crowd outside the nightclub got unruly waiting for the shoe launch.
SoleFly says it will reschedule the launch at a future date.
As safety is our number one priority, we’ve had to cancel our release today. We will reschedule our launch for a future date, thank you.
