Tyler Hadley case: Hadley still awaits trial 1 year after being accused of killing parents

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — One year after two Port St. Lucie parents were killed, the memory of what happened is still fresh in the quiet neighborhood where the slaying took place.
The house once occupied by Blake, Mary Jo and Tyler Hadley remains empty.

The grass in the yard is overgrown and on the window there is a sign from a mortgage company.

The house is a constant reminder to neighbors about the violence that took place July 16, 2011.

It was on that July day that investigators said Tyler, 17, killed his parents with a claw hammer.

Police said Tyler then threw a party while the bodies were hidden inside.

Neighbors say it is hard not think about what happened each time they drive by the now vacant home.

"It's just a bad memory to keep looking at and keep seeing every day. The parents were so nice. It's just hard to believe something like this could happen in a neighborhood nice like this," said Sandy Martin, a nearby resident.

Martin said even if someone were to move into the now abandoned home, she would still think about the Hadley family.
Tyler Hadley remains in the St. Lucie County jail awaiting trial.
