A Coast Guard Petty Officer who has been charged with rape, wrongful sexual contact and adultery will face a court martial in Miami, the Coast Guard announced.
According to a news release, 33-year-old Sheldon J Bond was the subject of a four-month-long Coast Guard investigation regarding an alleged sexual assault against a former member of the Air Force who is now a civilian.
The investigation began in March of 2013 when the Air Force Office of Special Investigations notified the Coast Guard of the allegations. The allegations say the sexual assault took place at a private residence in Lexington, South Carolina on October 30th, 2010.
The Coast Guard is not releasing the name of the victim to protect privacy. A date for the court martial has not been set.
