Coast Guard seizes nearly two tons of cocaine

A Coast Guard ship pulled into the Port of Miami Friday to offload a major haul.

More than 3,800 pounds of cocaine were confiscated during ocean drug raids.

The drugs come from three interdictions of smuggling ships in the Caribbean Sea conducted during May and June.

The total value of the drugs taken from the ships is estimated at more than $48 million.

Law enforcement also took a dozen suspected smugglers into custody from three captured ships.

The sea seizures are part of an international operation designed to prevent the use of air, land, and sea lanes in bringing drugs into the United States.
