U.S. Coast Guard crews based in Miami rescued a 49-year-old boater who was injured in a fireworks accident east of Bimini, Bahamas, on Sunday.
The Coast Guard was notified of the incident at 6 p.m., according to news release.
Officials said the man was reportedly injured while handling fireworks onboard a 35-foot vessel while en route to North Bimini.
After consulting with a Coast Guard flight surgeon, watchstanders sent a MH-65 search-and-rescue helicopter to the boat.
The aircrew was able to safely hoist the injured man from the boat and transport him to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.
