WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (AP) — Authorities arrested a southwest Florida man they say threw a baby girl across a room to stop her from crying.
Polk County Sheriff's officials say 24-year-old Christopher Finlayson admitted he was smoking marijuana and had been awake all night when he became enraged and threw the 11-month old baby across the room.
Authorities said the baby suffered a skull fracture, two broken wrists and five fractured ribs.
The child's mother returned home from the store and found the baby unresponsive.
The girl is hospitalized in stable condition.
Finlayson was charged Friday with aggravated Child Abuse.
He was booked into the Polk County Jail without bond.
Sheriff's detectives said Finlayson admitted screaming at the child to stop her from crying before throwing the baby into the air causing the baby to fall face first on the floor.
