A state representative is garnering attention for a video in which he said Florida's new Common Core tests would promote homosexuality among children.
"These people, that will now receive $220 million from the state of Florida unless this is stopped, will promote double mindedness in state education and attract every one of your children to become as homosexual as they possibly can," said Rep. Charles Van Zant, R-Keystone Heights.
Van Zant’s district is in Clay County located in northeast Florida.
The video was posted on YouTube by the political blog "Think Progress".
The Republican made those comments at the Operation Education Conference held in Orlando in March.
