Broward Sheriff's Office detectives search for armed robber who poses as UPS delivery man

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. - Deputies are crediting a quick-thinking neighbor with interrupting an armed robbery where the suspect was dressed as a UPS delivery man.

The suspect fled, leaving behind two packages containing zip ties and duct tape.

Detectives are still searching for the suspect.

According to the Broward County Sheriff's Office, on the afternoon of February 27th, a 65-year-old woman heard a knock at her front door.

A man identified himself as a UPS deliveryman and asked for her signature.

The woman opened the door and as he grabbed the clipboard for the signature, the man pulled a handgun from his waistband.

The woman screamed and pushed away from the suspect.

Hearing the screams, neighbor Claudia Kretzer came over to see what was going on.

The suspect wrestled Claudia to the ground and stole her phone before he fled.

In the scuffle, the suspect dropped two packages in the victim's yard.

The first box was empty; the second contained eight zip ties and a roll of duct tape.

Detectives are searching for a white man, possibly Hispanic, in his 20’s.

He was wearing a white sweater, khaki pants and a colored bandana on his head.

He was driving a gray Dodge Charger.
